UCF L5 Video Clip 2: Group 2 continues to discuss how to improve whirligigs
Group 2 continues their discussion from a previous period. Brianna wants to make the wings and stem longer but keep wings the same width. Jonathan argues against only elongating it since it won't fall correctly. He suggests that if the wings are made longer they also need to be made wider for better falling. Brianna says they should start with that.
UCF L5 Video Clip 5: Class tests 'best' whirligigs
[The instructor asks the class which groups think they have the 'best' design and three groups volunteer. They come to front of the room to have a competition. Another student comes up to call out the starting time. The instructor then asks each of the three groups to describe their design.] The three designs are: wider wings with rounded edges; wider wings with square edges; longer wings. They do three trials (but only two are shown in this video clip). It seems the two wider wings drop more slowly than the one with longer wings but it's a tie between the three of them.
